Swedes have long been fond of Chablis, and Chablis belongs to Burgundy. Now, Sweden has overtaken Belgium in the statistics and is the fifth-largest importer (by volume) of Burgundy wine in the world. Quite incredible.

The Burgundian wines that dominate in Sweden are Chablis and other white regional wines such as AOC Bourgogne and AOC Mâcon.

Over the past twenty years, the development of Swedish Burgundy imports has mainly focused on white wines.

Statistics also say that Burgundy is Sweden’s largest exporter of French appellation wine (24% of the total and 38% of white French AOC wines).

At the same time, the sparkling crémant de bourgogne has had exceptional success. Sweden is the second-largest export market regarding volume and turnover for AOC Crémant de Bourgogne.
