Alsace is primarily known for its elegant, stylish, often aromatic white wines. But they do much else there too. For example, the wonderfully intense sweet wines that can be called either vendange tardive (fairly sweet) or sélection de grains nobles (very sweet!). They even make some very good red wines from pinot noir.
