We have tasted two excellent wines from the beautiful coast of Tuscany. Tenuta Sette Cieli is located between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, 400 meters above sea level. The property is over 100 hectares, but only 15 hectares are vineyards. The climate is mild and seldom too hot. The grapes are cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, and malbec. The French varieties feel right at home here.

“BKWine Tastes”. It is a collection of wines we have tasted recently. It is often samples that producers have sent us to show us what they do or other bottles that we have come across at tastings or on our tasting table in the office.

Owner Ambrogio Cremona Ratti and the highly skilled winemaker Elena Pozzolini are the driving force behind Tenuta Sette Cieli. Elena, a dynamic and talented person, crafts wines that have garnered Tenuta Sette Cieli many admirers.

The wines

Indaco 2019, Tenuta Sette Cieli, IGT Toscana

Indaco is a blend of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot. It has an intense aroma of oriental spices, a concentration of flavours with hints of cherries, a fine structure with balanced tannins, and a subtle cherry bitterness at the end. Good acidity and a lingering finish. Classic in the Italian style. (~45 euro)

Scipio 2019, Tenuta Sette Cieli, IGT Toscana

A slight green note in the aroma already reveals that it is a cabernet franc. It has a pleasant herbal aroma and taste, an elegant lightness in style, good balance and freshness, and a lingering taste. There is also a slight bitterness at the end, typical of Italian wines. It spent 24 months in barriques but the oak aromas are pleasantly discreet. It is 100% cabernet franc and a good example of this grape. And delicious. (~65 euro)
