Today we start a new heading and section on BKWine Magazine: Uncorked, good wines that we have taste recently.
Under this heading we will collect various wines that we have tasted, and liked, recently. It can be wines that we have had during dinner at home, at wine tastings, press lunches, visits to vineyards, or other occasions.
We describe the wines just with a few short sentences, tasting notes that we hope will give you a short but accurate impression of what we thought of the wine, without delving into finer points of fruit, minerality etc etc.

- Valcanzjria 2011, Gulfi, Sicily IGT
Pleasant white wine, aromatic and quite full bodied. Drink with food or as an aperitif.
The grapes are chardonnay and the two local varieties, Caricanti and Albanello. Gulfi is located near Ragusa in the south east of Sicily.
- Domaine le Nouveau Monde, Coteaux du Languedoc 1998
Matured red wine from the Languedoc. It did not cost much at the time but it has aged very well. The wine is surprisingly fresh with a nice fruit still intact. The domain is run by the young and ambitious couple, Anne-Laure and Sébastien Borras.
- Domaine Vincent Prunier, Auxey-Duresses Blanc 1999
A white well matured Burgundy, slightly oxidized with honey notes. Full bodied and delicious.
- Jean Vullien et Fils, Rousette de Savoie 2011
From grape Altesse, full-bodied white wine with pleasant citrus aromas.
- 3 de Valandraud 2009, Saint Emilion Grand Cru
Heavily oaked, massive wine that perhaps lacks a bit of finesse. Made by Jean-Luc Thunevin, garage wine pioneer who now belongs to the establishment. This is Chateau Valandrauds third wine. Retail price approx € 25.
- Stallion 2011, Angelus Estate, Bulgaria
New major domain created by businessman in Bulgaria. Quite an impressive wine with some oak but a good body and structure. The grapes are merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and syrah.
- Champagne Roger Coulon, Grande Tradition Premier Cru
Delicious champagne with toasty and powerful aromas and structure. Good freshness. (About 17 euros)
- Domaine des Deux Roches, Saint Véran Vieille Vignes 1997
Old white Burgundy with lovely amber color and some vitality left. Not so oxidized actually. Ripe apples and honey in the aftertaste. For those who like old chardonnay.
- Butik Bogazkere 2009, Bakus, Turkiet
Powerful red wine made from Turkish grape Bogazkere. A lot of oak and vanilla but it manages to be fairly balanced anyway. Spicy. (About 15 euros).
- Château des Estanilles L’impertinent 2010, Faugères, Languedoc
Nice, red fruit, easy to drink. Made from organic grapes: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Carignan
- Château de Chantegrive 2011 Cuvée Caroline (white), Graves
Rich and concentrated wine. Maybe a bit too much oak for the moment but a few years in the cellar would probably do the trick. Citrus aromas and also nuts and exotic fruit. A perfect food wine. The grapes are 50% sauvignon blanc and 50% sémillon.
