Good news! We have just learned, hot off the presses, that our new book has won the award “Best wine book in Sweden for professionals” in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards! The book is called Wine and the Environment, Organic, Biodynamic, and Natural (or in the original language, Vinet och miljön, ekologiskt, biodynamiskt, och naturligt. It is published in Swedish).
We have also been nominated to the category “World’s Best Wine Book for Professionals” on the next level of the competition, where you compete against books from other countries and have the chance to be selected as the world’s best wine book!
We are of course extremely happy and proud! Time for some celebration wine tonight!
But one should not take this thing with “for professionals” too seriously. Yes, the book is packed with facts about organic wines (etc) but the real target audience is the wine enthusiasts who really want to know and to understand what organic, biodynamic and natural wines mean. Naturally that is something that is important for wine professionals but it is also valuable for the “normal” non-professional wine lover. Read more about Wine and the Environment here.
The book is not a “coffee table” book with big pictures and short texts. That is perhaps one of the reasons it has been put in the category “for professionals”, but we hope that this does not deter anyone for reading it! And it is obvious that our book also has a lot of photography, since, after all, we have a big wine photography archive.
The award ceremony for the international competition will take place in Paris on February 23, 2013. Perhaps you can come an cheer for us? Perhaps it can help to get us high up in the ranking!
It will be exciting.
Our previous book, The Creation of a Wine, was the international award winner in the same category in 2010/2011 and became the world’s best wine book for professional then.
