Uncorked: Under this heading we collect various wines that we have tasted, and liked, recently. It can be wines that we have had during dinner at home, at wine tastings, press lunches, visits to vineyards, or other occasions.
We describe the wines just with a few short sentences, tasting notes that we hope will give you a short but accurate impression of what we thought of the wine, without delving into finer points tasting notes.
Some inspiration for more wine discoveries! As well as a perspective on what to expect from older wines.
This month:
Some really good white wines, young and old, from Languedoc, Roussillon, Burgundy, Bergerac and even the Czech Republic. Mature red Bordeaux, a 100 % Petit Verdot and two different styles of sparkling wine.

Sparkling wines
Code Rouge Brut Eternel Blanc de blanc, Gérard Bertrand, Crémant de Limoux
Quite toasty and a certain complexity. Good length. (Don’t be scared away by the ugly red bottle!)
Champagne Penet-Chardonnet Cuvée Diane Claire
A powerful and dry champagne with a long and developed taste. Aromas of honey and spices. Goes wonderful with food.
White wines
Domaine Giachino, Monfarina 2015, Savoie Blanc
The grapes are Mondeuse Blanche, Verdesse and Jacquère. An easy drinking wine with flowery aromas. Very fresh. 11 euro.
Château La Baronne Le Grenache Gris de Jean 2014, Corbières, Languedoc
Grenache Gris can produce amazing wines on its own. This wine has a beautiful and dark amber colour and you could mistake it for a rosé wine. Very rich and intense on the palate. Delicous.
Carignan Vieilles Vignes, Mas Lavail, Terre d’Ardoise, Côtes Catalanes IGP, 2015
Old vines of the unusual grape Carignan Blanc. They grow in black schist in the Vallée de l’Agly in Roussillon. Aromas of white flowers and citrus. Enjoyable though quite discreet in style. Around 7 euro.
Domaine de l’Hortus Grande Cuvée Blanc 2000
Magnificent and not showing any signs of old age. Dark colour, a little bit oxidized, honey and apricot aromas. Powerful. Grapes are chardonnay och viognier.
Torrontès 2015, Salta, Argentina, Colomé
Aromatic style that can easily be confused with Muscat or Gewurztraminer. Light in style. Nice aperitif wine.
Cuvée des Conti Blanc, Château Tour des Gendres 2014, Bergerac
Discreet nose and a fine Semillon character on the palate with good concentration and body and some exotic fruits. Delicious. 50 % Semillon and 50 % Sauvignon blanc. 11 euro.
Domaine Treloar La Terre Promise 2015, Côtes Catalanes IGP
Very good, full-bodied, a bit fat in the mouth with aromas of apricots. The grapes are Grenache Gris, Macabeu and Carignan Blanc. Around 13 euro.
Maidenburg Pinot Blanc, 2014, Moravia, Czech Republic
Aromatic with refreshing acidity, a bit of residual sugar. Interesting wine from an unusual wine country.
Meursault 1998, Domaine Vincent Prunier
Brilliant white Burgundy with fine mature aromas but definitely not too old. Quite fullbodied with balanced oak aromas.
Red wines
Esprit Pointu, Signature, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2012
Full-bodied, fruity and spicy with some tannins. A Châteauneuf-du-Pape with structure.
Les Fiefs de Lagrange, Château Lagrange, Saint Julien 1997
Delicious well matured Bordeaux with typical aromas of cedar wood. Elegant in style. This is the second wine of Château Lagrange.
Lieu dit Verdot 2011, Les Vignerons de Tutiac
100 % Petit Verdot is unusual but it makes an exciting wine, like this one from the ambitious cooperative in Tutiac in Bordeaux. Full-bodied and peppery.
Domaine Borie la Vitarèle, Les Terres Blanches, Saint Chinian, Languedoc
Fine and refreshing acidity, very juicy fruit. Light in style but good complexity. Very good price. Around 8 euro.
Domoaine Treloar, Le Secret 2012, Côtes du Roussillon
The grape is Syrah and it shows. Concentrated and full-bodied. Aromas of spices and fresh herbs from la garrigue. Peppery. Very good. Around 15 euro.
Baga Território Vivo, Tinto 2012, Bairrada DOC, Portugal
Winemakers are Filipa Pato and William Wouters. Unusually light and elegant for a Baga grape. Complex and rich in taste. Delious.
