We travel to Champagne quite often for our wine tours. Usually we spend most of the time out in the vineyards and at the wineries visiting wine producers. But last time I was there I took the time to explore the wine shops that you can find in Reims.
There are not really an awful lot of wine shops in Reims and some of them are not really very interesting. But there are a few that I can certainly recommend, that have a good selection and that are not tourist traps.
In Per’s latest article on Forbes, The Best Wine Shops In Reims In Champagne (And Epernay Bonus), he gives you the best recommendation for shopping bubbles in Reims and Epernay.
Here’s the introduction:
The best place to buy champagne when you are in Champagne is of course at the producers’. And preferably at the small independent growers who typically make more exciting and individual champagnes than the internationally well-known big-and-famous brands. (And in any case, why travel all the way to Champagne and then buy the same bottles that you can find at home or in any duty-free?) But to do that you have to get out into the vineyards. What if you don’t have the opportunity to do so? Or if you want to extend your collection with even more different champagnes.
Last time I was here in Reims, guiding one of our wine tours of the Champagne region, I made a point of visiting all the wine shops in the city. So, here is a guide to the best places in Reims, the capital of Champagne, to buy champagne.
Curiously, in many wine districts it is not so easy to find good wine shops. This is true also in Champagne. Often, the shops in the best locations are filled with less than exciting mass-market wines. In Reims that is pretty much the case to.
The rest of the articles gives you six excellent addresses in Reims and four in Epernay.

Hi, i stumbled on your shop recommendations for Champagne in Reims. I will check on them next week. Thanks for the list. It’s a start. One comment to Epernay Cave Salvatori. The grand madame est mort. The old lady died. I didn’t warm up to the new owner yet. But it’s hard to replace an institution. She was unique. I will pass by there again to check them out, but the selection definately changed. I love aged champagne and the selection is now less in Cave Salvatori.
regards and bubbly 2020
